CORRECTIONS

The following corrections only refer to those entries that were 'devolved' in the second edition (i.e. turned from a 'main entry' to a section in a chapter introduction or somesuch): in general, the passage or information referred to does not appear in the second edition. All other errors were corrected and put right for the second edition - at least, those that we were aware of!
