The world stands at a worrying political crossroads. Soldiers from the Chinese mainland have brutally suppressed a fledging democracy movement in Taiwan. The Soviet Union is massing troops on the border with Mongolia while continuing to support pressurised regimes in South America and in North Vietnam. The Australian Red Army Faction have recently made a spectacular attack on the National Assembly. Even in Britain tensions are visible, with a minority Liberal coalition government and a National Front MP in south London.

It's small wonder that many young people, so recently empowered by thoughts of peace and love, are beginning to turn to apocalyptic fringe groups. If mankind cannot be trusted with the world then perhaps it's time for other creatures to look after the planet. Creatures from stars and planets beyond Earth's oil-polluted, fighter plane-filled skies.
But the aliens have already landed ... And some of them aren't friendly.

The original intention was to illustrate the book in the manner of the early Target novelisations. This didn't happen... so I've put Paul's excellent draft pictures here. Enjoy!
